Free music events
Finlayson Live ›
The free Finlayson Live concerts bring musical experiences and summer vibes to Väinö Linna Square on Wednesdays 3.7.-7.8. at 19.00.The performers on stage include Samae Koskinen, Raappana and Elias Gould. On Thursdays, the area also hosts the Finlayson Specials event, featuring a variety of other performing arts. On Tuesdays, there will be children's concerts.
How to get there? Bus routes 12 and 26, for example, stop at Finlayson. For detailed directions, see the Nyssen route guide.
Park concerts ›
Free outdoor concerts will be organized several times a week around the city throughout the summer. Concerts are held e.g. in Laikunlava, Hiedanranta and in the allotment gardens. Experienced amateur groups, choirs and dance groups will be performing.

MetsäFolk ›
An idyllic and small event in the middle of the nature combines camping and culture. Audience will be able to enjoy culture in the middle of the forest.

Amusing museums
Police Museum ›
Here you can put yourself in a police officer’s shoes and dive into fascinating stories. There is also a children’s section where they can sit behind the wheel of a small police car and perform mystical tasks.
How to get there? The museum is in Hervanta (Vaajakatu 2, Tampere). You can get there by several buses and a tram.
Mobilia ›
The Mobilia Automobile and Road Museum has the charm of speed for the whole family. What could be better for summer than a rally museum full of legends and vehicles!
How to get there? The museum is in Kangasala (Kustaa Kolmannen tie 75). You can get from Tampere to Mobilia by bus line 42.
Tampere Art Museum >
Tampere Art Museum organises temporary exhibitions on art history themes and presents old masters and the latest local and international contemporary artists. The exhibitions change seasonally. In summer, the museum hosts HYPER, an exhibition of hyper-realistic sculptures.
How to get there? The museum is located in Amuri, Tampere (Puutarhakatu 34). Tram line 1 stops right next to the museum at Pyynikintori stop.
Museum Milavida ›
The main exhibition at Museum Milavida follows the glamorous life of the Nottbeck family who lived in Tampere. The museum has a fashion or design exhibition that changes every year. In the museum there is also a nice Café Milavida.
How to get there? The museum is in Hämeenpuisto on top of the Näsinkallio (Näsilinna, Milavidanrinne 8). Buses 2, 14 and 81 stop near the museum. The Satakunnankatu and Hämeenkatu stops are a short walk away.
Relaxing nature experiences
Hervantajärvi hiking area ›
In the Hervantajärvi hiking area, there are about 10 km of guided hiking trails and 2 campfire sites, of which Viitastenperä is unique, organically designed lean-to shelter with woodshed and dry toilets. The area is used in a variety of ways, for example for walking, mountain biking and trail running. Unguided nature trails continue from Viitastenpera to Kangasala's Kaarinanpolku and Lempäälä's Birgitan polku.
How to get there? The Hervantajärvi hiking area is located on the south side of Hervanta, right next to the municipalities of Lempäälä and Kangasala (Hervantajärvi hiking area, Tampere). The stops of tram line 3 and bus line 5 is located just a few hundred meters from the hiking area's borders.
Pyynikki nature trail ›
Pyynikki ridge is a significant geological formation and is considered to be the highest gravel ridge in the world. Along the trail, you can get acquainted with the vegetation typical to this ridge and grove environment. The trail starts from the Pyynikki observation tower and is about 4 kilometres in length. From the top of the observation tower, you can admire the view across the whole city and enjoy a break at the legendary doughnut café.
How to get there? The nature trail is recommended to start from Pyynikki’s observation tower (Näkötornintie 20) and go around the route counterclockwise, but you can of course deviate from the path at any crossing point. Several buses go to Pyynikki, and a tram line 1 goes about 700 meters away.
Iso Naistenjärvi area ›
Pirkkala's popular hiking site has a shed, a campfire place, and a toilet. Around Erämaajärvi there are many winding duckboards and paths. Nearby you can also find the high cliff Taaporinvuori and the giant boulder Pirunkivi.
How to get there? The route to Iso-Naistenjärvi offers a versatile forest trip in Pirkkala, right next to Tampere (Iso-Naistenjärvi, Pirkkala). Buses don't go all the way there, but for example, bus lines 11 and 36B run a couple of kilometers away.

Move sustainably in the summer
In the summer, moving environmentally friendly is easier than ever!
Utilize Tampere's city bikes and freely combine different vehicles. Go part of the way on a tram, jump off a little earlier and walk or cycle the rest of the way.
Remember that you can also take your own bicycle on the bus and tram for an additional fee.
