When travelling with Nysse, you confirm your right to travel on each of your trips by showing your ticket - even the mobile tickets and season tickets - to the ticket device. Information on the number of passengers on buses and trams is obtained based on the verifying process. The service level of public transport (number of trips and schedule) is based on passenger volume data in terms of time and routes. Based on this information, it is therefore possible to better plan a service that meets the needs.
In addition, in a public transport system where everyone validates their ticket when boarding, the number of ticketless passengers remains low. All passengers benefit from this, as ticket prices can be kept affordable for everyone.
If the validity of the ticket has not been confirmed, the ticket inspector has the right to charge an inspection fee of €80.00. This is defined in Nysse's Ticket and Payment Terms.
Passenger numbers are very low on the school bus lines during holidays so it is not be profitable to provide the service.
The aim is to stagger the headways of bus lines on their shared route sections as evenly as possible. However, there are some sections where uneven headways tend to happen.
The lines operating from different directions arrive at their terminuses (e.g. the centre of Tampere) at the same time, especially in commute and school transport, when the aim is to reach the destination at the same time. This also enables passengers to make their planned connections. This is why some buses end up in the same route sections at the same time when approaching their terminus, thus creating queues of buses.
The schedules have been designed according to passengers’ needs. The varying distances and headways of the lines as well as cost-efficiency must be taken into consideration in the planning. In addition, other traffic and weather conditions also have an impact on the timing.
Unfortunately, the journey planner does not recognise the zone information for train trips. For journeys where the route proposal includes a train trip, the ticket information is based on the bus and/or tram trip.
For example, if the route proposal includes a bus trip in zones A–B and a train trip in zones B–C, the route planner will indicate that you need ticket AB. Under the ticket information, it is shown that the section between the train stations included in the route is operated by VR.
As the information in the journey planner is incomplete, please check the zone information whenever the journey includes a train section.

Tram 1 runs until midnight at best. If the service were extended into the early morning hours, the feeder lines to Hiedanranta and Kauppi campus would also need to be in operation. This solution would not be cost-effective, as there is currently not enough demand in the service areas of the feeder lines.
At night, lines 6 (Northeast Tampere), 20 (Northwest Tampere), and 80Y (Ylöjärvi) replace the tram and feeder lines. Buses cover more areas at once than the tram and can be crowded during popular events.
Line 3 operates later purely based on demand, due to the population size and structure of Hervanta. The next major route change is coming in 2028 when the tram network expands to Partola. At that time, the night routes will also be redesigned.
Timetables are estimated based on average route times. The fluency of traffic and potential traffic jams impact the timing of the buses, which is why it is not always possible to arrive at the stop precisely on schedule. The real-time stop schedules can be found in our Journey Planner.
Your device is using network connection for location. Sometimes the location is directed to the nearest base station. Please try again after a while.
Real time location is a feature helping you get around. If you have GPS enabled on your mobile device, you can see where you are on your journey and find the nearest stops and services.
Make sure your GPS location services are enabled on your mobile or other device.
