Welcome to use the city bikes again in the spring
The city bike season 2024 is over.
For the winter, city bikes have been collected from city bike stations. Some of the city bike stations have been left in place, while some of the fixed structures have been dismantled and moved to winter storage.
Registration for the city bike app and the sale of licenses will start again in spring 2025. The city bike season will kick off on 15 April 2025.

Information about city bike system
The city bike system includes 700 city bikes and 113 city bike stations. City bikes are part of the Nysse family, and the city of Tampere is responsible for organizing the system as a whole.
For the use of city bikes, the Tampereen kaupunkipyörät application is downloaded, which is used to register as a user of city bikes and to pay for their use. The Tampere city bike system was launched in June 2021.
Most of the stations are physical stations, i.e. the station has racks for city bikes. Some city bike stations are so-called virtual stations that can be identified from the information board. When using a virtual station, return the bike by parking it near the information board.
In addition to the Tampere city centre, there are city bike stations in Hakametsä, Hervanta, Härmälä, Kaukajärvi, Koivistonkylä, Nekala, Kauppi, Pispala, Pyynikki, Rauhaniemi, Tays area and Turtola. During the city bike season, up-to-date information about city bike stations can be found in the Tampereen kaupunkipyörät app and in the Nysse journey planner.
Registering as a user of Tampere city bikes is done through the Tampereen kaupunkipyörät application, which is also needed to use city bikes. The Tampereen kaupunkipyörät app can be downloaded from the Google Play and the App Store. When registering, the user enters their payment card and contact information, and accepts the terms of use and security policies. In the application, the user buys the license for the desired time (day/month/season).
You can purchase a licenses for a single-trip, a day, a month or an entire season. The license to use the bike for a single-trip costst 2 euros, a day (24 hours) 5 euros, a month (30 days) 10 euros and the season (until 31 October) 30 euros (prices 2024). The licence is available from the moment of purchase. However, the time included in the licence starts to run when the city bike is used for the first time.
With the exception of the single-trip fee, access rights include an unlimited number of 60-minute journeys. A single-trip fee allows you to make only one trip of up to 60 minutes.
If you ride the bike for more than 60 minutes at a time, you will be charged €1 for each additional 30 minutes. The maximum ride time is 5 hours. If you exceed 5 hours, the extra fee is €80.
Prices include VAT 25,5 %.
City bikes are available at any time to the users who have registered and paid for the usage period. City bike stations and available city bikes can be easily found using the map in the Tampereen kaupunkipyörät app.
The available city bike will be unlocked using the Tampereen kaupunkipyörät application. Open the Tampereen kaupunkipyörät app and select a city bike station from the map in the app. Unlock the bike by reading the QR code of the bike using the app’s QR code reader. The lock opens and your trip can begin.
Daily, monthly and seasonal pasess include an unlimited number of 60-minute trips at no extra charge. If you want, you can ride a city bike continuously for 60 minutes, return the city bike and start a new ride with another or the same bike immediately again.
A single-trip fee covers a single trip of up to 60 minutes. The riding time starts when the bike is unlocked and ends when the bike is locked.
At the end of use, the city bike is returned to any of the city bike station.
Finish your trip in the app. Lock the bike and wait for confirmation that your trip has ended.
At a physical station, i.e. a station with city bike racks, the city bike should be returned to the rack. With a virtual station, it is enough to return the city bike locked close the information board. Please return the city bike neatly so that it does not disturb other users.
The city bike can be returned to the station even if the station is full.
